Space Race – it’s the Gauntlet, in the stars. Got that, space ranger?
~ Official blogpost (12 September 2022)

Space Race is one of the levels in Fall Guys. It is a COURSE level (specifically, a gauntlet) and was first introduced in Season 2. It was first revealed in a blog on 12 September 2022.[1]

Course description[]

Standard version[]

Space Race is a big, multiple path obstacle course divided into four main sections. The map is full of unique obstacles and usually has different, slower sections across the map for players that fall. Most of the obstacles on this map are from Season 2.

The start of the map is a wide path, which has two Trolley Bots with Rotating Hammers on them. It leads to a Gravity Zone with Hover Platforms going up and down inside it.

The next section is a big floor of Hex-a-tiles that disappear on contact, but respawn after a short period. Players that fall will land on a Slime ramp, where they have to avoid moving walls and go up another Gravity Zone to get back to the top section, just ahead of the tile path. Going that way is slower, however.

The third section is a big gap with Hover Platforms going up and down that players have to jump across. At the last platform players can jump across the gap. There are also different paths on the sides, where players must wait for platforms that alternate between moving forward and pausing, while jumping over blocks that the platforms move under. At the end, players jump into a Vacuum Tube. After that there is a path covered with one Conveyor Belt that changes direction every 7 seconds. The aforementioned Vacuum Tubes lead to this Conveyor Belt. There are also Pendulums that try to hit players off. After that, players enter one of two Vacuum Tubes to lead them up to the final section.

The final section contains rows of Thrusters. Half of the Thrusters are always firing, while the other half wait for their turn soon after. They lead to a Log that has some rows of Thrusters on it that knock players off. Then players wait on a bunch of Thrusters at the end of the path that will shoot players to the finish line in the sky. If a player chooses to avoid the Log, they can get to a faster area high in the sky by using one of the rows of thrusters as a boost. The higher section is 2 symmetrical paths of Hex-a-tiles that lead to a slime ramp that will also fling players to the finish.

Course changes[]

As of the July '24 Update:

  • The Thrusters on the Log section are now synced up, instead of going of randomly.
  • The Alternate version seems to always be picked.

Alternate version[]

From the 15 September 2022 Season 2 update, these variants can sometimes occur instead of the standard one:

  • Static platforms on the sides of the conveyor belts sections may appear. These do not appear immediately, only after a certain time has passed.

Course strategy[]

Standard version[]

First, proceed straight from the spawn point. Try using the hammers from the trolley bots to give you a boost forwards, though this is not necessary. Carefully jump onto a platform as it is going down, then wait until it goes up. For outright speed, as soon as you see the platform to the left/right and above you move downwards, jump over it and immediately out of the low-gravity zone onto the next level in front of you. Else, take it slowly so you don't accidentally bump your head on the underside of the platform.

If you took the gravity zone and platform section as fast as you can, you should be in prime position to easily navigate the tiles, being at the head of the pack. Simply run and jump across. If not, you'd have to carefully maneuver your way around the tiles, waiting for them to respawn if necessary. You should not be taking the lower path unless you fall, as it is slower; but should you have to do so, carefully dodge the moving walls and handle the gravity zone + platform section similarly to how you handled the first one.

For this next section, the sides are faster. Wait for the platform to be in a position where you can jump on it, then 'board' it. As soon as it rises up, immediately run ahead and then jump-dive onto the next platform (or you will have to wait for the next cycle). Once this platform rises, jump up onto the ledge, across the gap to the next ledge, then you can either take a risk and jump-dive off the very end of the ledge into the vacuum tube that leads you to the front of the conveyor belt; or wait for the platform so you can land on it before jumping into the vacuum tube. On the other hand, the middle section is much more straightforward, but way slower; simply wait until you can cross to the next platform then jump on it.

On the conveyor belt, carefully apply a consistent direction opposite to the direction the belt is moving in so you don't fall off the side, carefully dodge the pendulums, then head through a vacuum tube at the end.

At this point, the path diverges one last time. Carefully walk straight through the thrusters. If you're going for the upper-side paths, head to the last set of thrusters and wait for one to thrust you upwards, landing on the top ledge closer to you. (Though it is possible to be thrust up by an earlier set of thrusters, it means you would have to deal with the timing of the moving platforms, potentially costing you a few seconds). Then simply walk across the respawning hex tiles, slide down the slime slide (without jumping before landing on the slide, or you will likely ragdoll and be unable to jump at the end of the slide), jump as soon as you hit the low-gravity zone, and head to the finish.

The lower path is not as recommended due to the log with thrusters on it, and due to the somewhat inconsistency of the thrust from the final set of thrusters. Carefully weave between these as you cross the cylinder, then wait on a set of thrusters that will fling you into the finish.

Alternate version[]

  • The hover platforms that show up next to the conveyer belt in said section do not effect the very speedy players, but if you're struggling with the conveyer-section and the platforms do show up, definitely walk on them to get to the Vacuum tubes much easier.

Medal thresholds[]

  • Gold - First place
  • Silver - Top 20% of players in the lobby
  • Bronze - Top 50% of players in the lobby
  • Pink - Qualified, but outside of the top 50%
  • No medal - Eliminated

Trivia[]

  • This level's name is likely a reference to the Space Race, a 20th-century competition between two Cold War rivals, the United States and the Soviet Union, to achieve superior spaceflight capability.
  • On both sides of the section containing rows of thrusters facing upwards, before the last checkpoint, there are two unused downward ramps leading to the last checkpoint on the bottom path. They were supposed to be used with a Wormhole variation during Wormhole Wanderers event. However, as the map was vaulted, the variant wasn't used.
  • Initially lasting only for 23 days, Space Race is the fastest level to be removed from the game after its introduction.
  • A tweet by the FallGuysOwl account on 31 July 2024, announced that Space Race would replace the Creative level Block Garden in Knockout due to the creative level using hacks to surpass the 2000 budget limit. This tweet got deleted 10 minutes after it was posted, as Space Race didn't get added to Knockout or any other mode and Block Garden was not removed from Knockout until 1 August 2024 when the tweet got re-tweeted and it actually happened.
    • The change ended up happening and was retweeted on the Fall Guys Owl account on 1 August 2024.[2]
