~ Unvault Announcement (10 December 2024) |
See Saw is one of the levels in Fall Guys. It is a COURSE level and was first introduced in the beta version.
According to the game website, See Saw was designed by Anthony Pepper.
Course description[ | ]
Standard version[ | ]
See Saw consists of overcoming various rows of coloured horizontal see-saws (hence its name), separated by Checkpoints. The first sections presents three see-saws in a row, being the easiest one. In the other sections, the see-saws are not perfectly one in front of the other and the player has to use balance to jump into the next see-saw without falling down. If a see-saw is too unbalanced, the players will fall down by losing their balance and will restart before the row of see-saws in which they fell down. This is one of the few initial courses that, in standard version, doesn't present any other obstacle. The level is relatively easy when there are few players, because they don't cause too much weight, but is quite difficult when there are many.
Alternate versions[ | ]
From the 15 September 2020 Season 1 (Legacy) mid season update, these variants can occur instead of the standard one:
- The see-saw positions can be sometimes changed, with two sections of them from the beginning.
- The see-saw positions, in some areas, can change from horizontal to vertical.
- This has since been removed - see 'Course changes' below.
- A Big Yeetus has been added at the final checkpoint.
Course strategy[ | ]
Standard version[ | ]
One of the most hated upon race courses, it's easy to fail on this one. It requires a combination of luck and skill. Spawning on the front left or front right gives you a higher chance of qualifying. Quickly run to the nearest see-saw once the race begins and go onto the opposite side. Then jump and/or dive onto the next one. If possible, you can just walk onto the nearest see-saw, buying you extra time. Rinse and repeat. DO NOT jump onto a see-saw that has a 45 degree incline or higher, you will most likely fall. Wait for the opportunity, then jump. It may be better to play on a server with less people so there are no chaotic masses and saboteurs.
Because of how the checkpoints work, you can exploit them to marginally speed ahead in most cases. This works best after the first and second sections. Make as if you're about to jump off the see-saw onto the next section, but miss it and just hit the Padded Wall. If done correctly, you should hear the checkpoint reached sound effect and then respawn slightly ahead most of the time.
Alternate version[ | ]
This variant has since been removed; this strategy is preserved for archival purposes.
For the variant where the see-saws are positioned vertically, it might be hard to reach the next ones when a bunch of players gather near the far edge. When this happens the best strategy is to be selfish and stay at the far edge as well. The idea is to either force players to fall back and tip the see-saw in your favor or make the see-saw tip over taking everyone down with you, hopefully giving you a better chance in the next attempt. Of course, the best way to cross is still to be so far ahead (likely due to a good starting position on the course) so you can cross the see-saw before the rest of the players can reach you.
In all versions, there are specific see-saws which can be rendered in a permanent tilting state with careful positioning. It is incredibly hard, if not almost impossible in some specific scenarios (especially in the vertical see-saws variant), to counteract this. Saboteurs tilting the see-saws have the goal of wasting time, before qualifying at the last moment, significantly reducing the field due to the 3:00 timeout. The only way to bypass it is just to be fast and lucky before the saboteurs tilt the see-saws, but in all other scenarios it might be less aggravating to back out of the game and queue up for the next one.
See Saw X[ | ]
Trust no one. You'll have to dodge the classic 'grab while you are attempting to jump over a gap' manoeuvre, and there are many such gaps between the see-saws and the safe stretches where you can fall through. Be especially wary of see-saw balance here, so you do not jump onto a see-saw that is about to tilt and make everyone on it slide off.
For obvious reasons, the checkpoint exploit mechanic is not recommended.
Course changes[ | ]
- As of 17 February 2021, the vertical see-saw variant can no longer appear due to griefers using it to prevent players from finishing.[1]
- This variation temporarily returned at the start of Season 4 (Legacy). This was confirmed to have been an error, and was since removed in a hotfix on 24 March 2021. It temporarily returned again at the start of the Season 4.5 (Legacy) update and was removed, once again.
