The concept of "vaulted rounds" is introduced, and the full round pools of [[Solo Show]], [[Squads Show]] and [[Duos Show]] are no longer used, and instead replaced with a seasonal variant of each (named [[Satellite Scramble Shows]]). Which rounds didn't have seasonal variants, however, were temporarily taken out from core shows, which is referred to as "vaulting", but they were still available outside of Core Shows. Despite this, some rounds like [[The Slimescraper]], [[Jinxed]] and [[Skyline Stumble]] were available in the round pool, despite not having any seasonal variants. This "vaulting" was completely changed at the start of [[Season 3]]. 

The season pass is now 200 tiers long, with 145 free tiers and 55 paid tiers. From Tier 100 and onward consists mainly of 30 crown shards to help users with progress on crown ranking.

Repeatable challenges were added, making their first appearance in the second instance of [[Crown Shard Scramble]].

After the version 8.2 update, the round loading screen during final rounds were given a new look. It now has a crown beside the round's name, a golden plate on the "Final Round" text, and a new yellow gradient with crowns as its background.

== Trivia ==
*This is the first even number season to introduce [[Final]] rounds.
*This season's trailer is the 1st not to feature [[Pink]]; they were most likely replaced by [[Silent]] as the main character.
*For the entire duration of Season 2, the background during the round loading screen was still the same as [[Season 1]].
*This is the only season to last the same length as an older season, lasting the same amount of days as [[Season 2 (Legacy)]].
*Season 2 is the shortest season following the change to free-to-play model.
*This is the only season in which all its new [[Race|Race Rounds]] have been removed in the middle of the season. 
**[[Starchart]] was unvaulted in the [[Summer Breeze Update]] but had to be removed again in the [[Fall Forever Update]] due to issues with the new jump physics making the level too easy.
