Rickety rafts are all that keep you from the depths of the ocean in Kraken Slam!

Tentacles rise from the depths to smash at you! Avoid a calamari calamity to take the Crown.

~ Reveal Announcement (29 November 2022)

Kraken Slam is one of the levels in Fall Guys. It is a FINAL level and was first introduced in Season 3. It was first revealed in a blog on 21 November 2022.[1]

Course description[]

Kraken Slam is situated in an 8-by-8 arena, divided into 4 uniquely coloured segments of 4-by-4 rafts (that are not fully perpendicular to the ground, but with a slight slant) above water. These platforms alternate between normal platforms, and platforms that change state when they're landed on; also, there are gaps in between these platforms. At the start of the round, a mechanical Kraken rises from the sea behind the yellow and blue sections to look at the players on the arena.

The state of the changing platforms is denoted by the colour and shape of the sign marked on it. The green symbol is the 'maximum' state; landing on the platform at that point moves it to the yellow symbol state; further landing on the yellow symbol platform changes it to the final red cross state, upon which landing on it one last time makes the platform sink into the water, to be replaced by a Kraken Tentacle. Notably, the starting state of these platforms depends on the number of players; with more players, the platforms will start at the green state; with less, they will start at the yellow or red states. The following table shows the starting state for each player count:

Players Starting state
2-5 Red tiles
6-10 Yellow tiles
11+ Green tiles

The suckers on the kraken tentacles are actually lights; these light up when the tentacle is actively targeting a player. When it is about to slam the platform, it moves back a bit before slamming down on the platform. Players that are standing on the platform at the time of impact get launched into the air. The tentacle rubs the platform it just slammed before rising back to its vertical state. It is possible for players to bounce off the kraken tentacles as well.

At certain intervals, the kraken will tip over a segment of the arena, rendering it all but unsafe for players to stand on. Near the start of the round, a single segment tends to be tipped; as the round progresses, more than one segment gets tipped. These segment tips are telegraphed by the kraken raising a tentacle to grab a handle, and by any tentacles in the segment itself receding (unless they are about to slam a platform).

If a segment is tipped, the platforms with symbols will each progress a state once the kraken moves the segment back to its safe position.

This final times out at 5 minutes, but at around 4 minutes in the kraken will tip all 4 segments. Timeouts are possible, but extremely rare, as the technique to do so is incredibly complicated. This is detailed at the bottom of the next section.

Course strategy[]

Kraken Slam has the potential to be one of the most frantic finals, especially in the later stages - but there can be stretches where things are unusually more chilled out. You have the freedom to play either more aggressively, or more passively, depending on your playstyle.

For starters, the gaps in between the platforms already make this final a happy hunting ground for grabbers. There are many opportunities to grab-push unsuspecting players off a platform, or to ruin their jump by grabbing them just before they jump across a gap. The only real counters to this are to position yourself as far away from these players as possible, but if you do not want to shift platform, keep jumping in place to make it hard for any grabbers to shove you off. When shifting platforms, pay close attention to the movements of other players so you do not crash into another player mid-jump and end up getting bodyblocked by them, falling through a gap into the water.

You can either aggressively make the platforms sink to spawn the tentacles sooner, or just passively wait. As a reminder, the platform states progress whenever a segment is tipped, so the tentacles will all spawn eventually. Spawning the tentacles earlier can potentially eliminate more players earlier.

A key strategy when dealing with tentacles is to make sure you're not standing on the platform at the time the tentacle hits the platform, so you do not get launched into the air. To that end, aim to find a platform that has only 2 tentacles adjacent to it, and position yourself on the platform such that you are as far away from the tentacles as possible. The corner platforms on the blue and orange segments are the best for this purpose. Standing on a platform with 3 tentacles adjacent is still manageable, but you'll have to continually reposition yourself to dodge each tentacle.

After that, simply observe when the lights on the tentacle light up, then as soon as you see the tentacle curl backwards, jump. If timed correctly, you will be in the air just before the tentacle slams the platform. On higher ping, you'll have to jump slightly earlier than normal so you do not get flung.

When most of the tentacles are in play, watch out especially for other players trying to ruin you by making you miss your jump or shoving you off. Switch platforms rapidly if necessary. Keep in mind you do not need to jump-dive from the corner of one platform to the corner of another platform that is diagonally adjacent to it, as the increased duration of this technique makes you more susceptible to tentacle slams; a normal jump will suffice.

If you're looking to go for a timeout, the crucial and most difficult bit happens around 4 minutes in when all segments are tipped, and this happens roughly twice before the 5 minute timeout duration. Slowly go forward as the platform is tipping, which will allow you to stand on the side of the segment.[2] It is incredibly challenging and harder than it may seem, as there is a very small safe area to stand on, and executing the technique improperly can result in you falling off the segment. The other hard part then becomes one of getting safely back onto the platform when the segment is being untipped. In other words: good luck, you'll need it.

Course changes[]

As of Season 4:

  • A 5:00 timer has been added.

Survival variant[]

A SURVIVAL type variant was introduced in Finals Marathon on 29 November 2022. In this variant, the round ends when four players are eliminated, leaving 2 to 12 players depending on when the round is chosen. Another one was introduced to Survival of the Fittest on 21 September 2023, and can be chosen between 2 - 30 players (round 1, 2 or 3 of the respective playlist). Another was in Knockout's first rotation.

Finals Marathon[]

The usual strategies apply, but since there are multiple players qualifying from the survival round, consider playing more aggressively than you usually do, whether by grabbing players off or by intentionally removing platforms to spawn tentacles.

Survival of the Fittest[]

Consider playing more carefully in this version, especially if this round is selected in round 1 with 30 players as players will easily mess up on their own (take note that there is no Skill-Based Match Making in this game). Also, take note that with the higher amount of players it is easier to get body blocked. If getting this round later in the game (other than the final) the same strategies as Finals Marathon apply.

Known bugs[]

Surprise Elimination: As of Power Party Update, when jump diving into a tile, the player could get eliminated about a second, after landing on the tile, without touching even a small part of the water.

Surprise Tentacle's Attack: As of an unknown date, players will be attacked suddenly by tentacles. Before attacking, tentacles do not have charging animations and then players will suddenly fly into the air.

Medal thresholds[]

  • Gold - Winner!
  • No medal - Eliminated

Trivia[]

  • Kraken Slam is the only round that has a tip which isn't bound to any controls; it only says "ONLY ONE CAN SURVIVE THE KRAKEN!".
    • As of Season 4, this tip has been updated to "SURVIVE THE KRAKEN!".
  • Before 19 January 2023, this incredibly specialised and difficult strategy[3] to remain standing on a tipped segment was a standard method to go for a timeout; after that date, this strategy was made impossible.
  • As of Season 4, the round description in the loading screen has been slightly edited to no longer include "only one can survive the Kraken!".
  • Kraken Slam has remained active since its introduction in Season 3.
