Big Fans is one of the rounds in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. This round is a race round and has been introduced in Season 2 (Legacy)'s mid-season update.

Course description[ | ]

Standard version[ | ]

Big Fans is an obstacle course divided into four main sections to traverse. Each section consists of several fans that spin slowly. There are checkpoints after the first three sections.

The first section consists of two medium-sized fans that converge into one large-sized fan. The second section contains one large fan in the center, with a small-sized fan on either side. The third section consists of three small-sized fans which converge into two medium-sized fans, which further converge into a medium-sized fan with a rotating beam to jump over. The fourth and final section consists of two medium-sized fans which converge into one large-sized fan; all of these fans have rotating Beams to jump over.

Alternate versions[ | ]

Starting from the 2 February 2021 Season 3 (Legacy) mid-season update, the following variants may appear:

Note that each variation always applies to all possible sections when present

  • A vertical blizzard fan may appear in the center of each fan platform in section 3; while over in section 4, three diagonal fans can be found blowing players towards the finish line. [1]
  • Three additional overlapping fan platforms may be present in section 1, creating three layers of fans; while over in section 2, two additional platforms are placed under the big center fans.
  • The rotating beams may be removed in sections 3 and 4.

Starting from Season 1:

  • Even more fan platforms may be present.

During Season 2 only, and only in core shows, the following variants would appear:

  • Some fans may have respawing hexagon tiles around them.
  • Some low gravity zones may be present.

Course strategy[ | ]

Standard version[ | ]

While Big Fans may seem like a daunting level at first, if played methodically and carefully, it can be a breeze. Most of the time, you will have to jump and dive to reach fan blades that are far away. This technique in general can be used to reach another fan blade on the same fan.

The particularly adventurous players can walk on the inner ring of the fan instead to travel from fan blade to fan blade. An even faster method is to walk along the inner spokes of the fan and jump over the bump in the center of the fan. These have very little margin for error; it can be easy to fall off and end up resetting at the checkpoint.

At the final stretch, pay attention to the direction the beams are traveling in, especially the final one. Try to avoid going against the flow of the final spinning beam - if it is spinning clockwise, head to the left fan, and vice-versa. (It is currently observed to spin clockwise, but this may change in future updates.)

Although it will be far slower, if you are not confident of quickly traversing fans, it is entirely possible to qualify from this level within the 3:30 time limit by just waiting on the fan blades to travel, instead of jumping from blade to blade. This is, of course, contingent on other players not being able to fill the qualification quota before you reach the finish.

Due to the presence of skill-based matchmaking in Solo Show, Big Fans now rarely times out without filling the quota; as such, practicing to get good at speeding through the round is more important than ever. (This is not the case in alternate playlists so it is possible to expect more timeouts there, though the timeout duration is usually reduced if it is a squads-based mode).

Alternate versions[ | ]

  • The addition of additional overlapping platforms and the removal of the rotating beams should make qualifying this level vastly easier.
  • For the blizzard fans in section 3, you can float across the center to the other side of the platform fans - though this is a risky tactic to take on the final fan platform if there is a spinning beam.
  • For the blizzard fans in section 4, you can use the center blizzard fan to go to the final fan; however, you can also use the side blizzard fans to go all the to the finish line.

Trust no one. Many players will be looking to grab you as you attempt to jump over a gap, or grab-push you off the side of a fan blade while both of you are on the same blade, resulting in a swift elimination. Pay close attention to how many players there are, and how many can qualify from the round, however; the qualification quota and strict time limit means you cannot play way too safe.

Final Variant[ | ]

A Final type variant was introduced in the X-treme Party playlist on 28 March 2023. In this variant, all players that reach the finish will win.

Medal thresholds[ | ]

  • Gold - First place
  • Silver - Top 20% of players in the lobby
  • Bronze - Top 50% of players in the lobby
  • Pink - Qualified, but outside of the top 50%
  • No medal - Eliminated

Trivia[ | ]

  • The basis for the 'waiting on the fan blades' strategy was taken from this Reddit post - a sped-up clip of a qualification taking just over 2 minutes (but sped up to twice the speed).
  • Up to Season 6 (Legacy), Big Fans developed a reputation for regularly timing out due to its difficulty. This is likely why, before Season 1, Big Fans only tends to appear as round 2. In special cases like Mix It Up!, it can appear in round 1 (due to the blizzard fans making the round easier).
    • At some point after the start of Season 4 (Legacy) until the launch of Season 2, Big Fans could appear in round 1 again.
    • Mind you, that had NOT stopped the map from still timing out with the fans, either...
  • Big Fans timer was increased from 3:00 to 3:30 with the Season 6 (Legacy) mid-season update. This was most likely done due to the round frequently timing out at the original time, so was increased to give more players a chance of qualifying.
  • Before Season 3, Big Fans was one of the few rounds to not use music from the season it was released. As a Season 2 (Legacy) race round, the expected music would be Sir Falls-A-Lot (William Fell), similarly to Knight Fever and Wall Guys, but strangely it used Fall 'n' Roll (the Season 1 (Legacy) race music) instead.
    • The other rounds with this characteristic are Snowball Survival and Sum Fruit.
    • Roll Off and Roll On also don't use music from the season they were released, however this is expected as they are both Season 1 (Legacy) themed, instead of matching the theme of their respective seasons.
    • This was fixed in Season 3, and it now plays the appropriate music, Sir Falls-A-Lot (William Fell).
  • During Season 3, Big Fans was really uncommon in core shows due to having the player count limits of a starter race (40 - 60 players), but being blacklisted from showing up as the first round. In a regular full 60-player lobby in Solo Show, 42 people would qualify for the second round (considering there are no disconnections), which only gave a small 40 - 42 player gap in which Big Fans could show up. However due to the presence of SBMM, lobbies would often start with less players, reducing this gap even more to the point where it would become impossible for Big Fans to show up if the lobby started with 55 players or less.
    • This wasn't the case during Season 2, since the special Satellite Scramble core shows during that season had a 20 - 45 player requirement for Big Fans, making it much more likely to appear.
    • This is no longer the case since Season 4, as Big Fans can appear as a round 1 again in both Solos and Duos. The only exception is Squads, where it still can't be the first round.
